Martin on Daytona Tire Test: "Grip, Grip, Grip"
(TOLEDO, Ohio - December 23, 2010) - Hal Martin, who last week tested for Hoosier Tire and Venturini Motorsports at Daytona International Speedway, spoke last night with longtime motorsports voice Larry Henry in an interview that appeared on Henry's weekly radio show, "Pit Pass USA." The show airs on the VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network's Power Up Motorsports Channel.
Martin, 24 and of Galliano, La., discussed the results of Daytona's recent new paving.
"Grip, grip, grip! That's all I've got to say. It's a totally new surface. I was there last year, and of course, the track is notorious for having the bumps, and those bumps are gone," said Martin, who joined Steve Arpin at the test. "We got all that we needed to get accomplished down there with just the two of us. We were able to run in drafts of two and single-car runs, and basically get a feel for what the tire's going to do over a short period of time, for short runs as well as long runs."
Martin has made six starts over two seasons in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, and has plans to do more in 2011. He spoke about his search for sponsorship, his motorsports background, and even the origin of his "Ragin' Cajun" nickname.
